Dickinson Dees rollsout WinScribe
London, March 1, 2004 - UK law firm Dickinson Dees joins a rapidly growing number of firms that have recently adopted the WinScribe digital dictation solution developed in New Zealand by Takapuna based WinScribe Inc.
Top 50 law firm Dickinson Dees has invested in WinScribe digital dictation workflow technology from UK sales partner SRC in a deal which will see up to 420 users across the firm’s two offices in Newcastle and the Tees Valley by the end of 2004.
Dickinson Dees' Head of Administration, David Nicholson, said the initial deployment to 100 staff across the law firm – one of the largest in the north of England – will replace an analogue tape dictation system and deliver greater flexibility for lawyers to create dictations both in and away from the office.
Dickinson Dees Director of IT, Simon Earnshaw, said that 130 lawyers already had the capability to remotely access company servers using their laptops and the digital dictation system added the final piece of the office technology puzzle.
“With the addition of WinScribe’s digital dictation workflow to our current remote working solution, lawyers will now have full access to all essential services, including secretarial support. It will eliminate the overheads and problems associated with sending support staff to work on specific projects, since the WinScribe digital dictation system means that dictations can be sent easily to the most appropriate secretary for transcription, wherever the secretary is located.”
Mr Earnshaw added that SRC’s experience and WinScribe’s interoperability with other technologies were key factors in the firm’s selection process.
“Dickinson Dees considered a number of suppliers but settled on WinScribe and SRC because of its proven track record and the plain fact that WinScribe is the most mature digital workflow technology on the market,” he said.
WinScribe’s International Marketing Manager, Dale Matravers, said “The legal sector is a huge growth market internationally for WinScribe. Our traditional markets have been Health, Law Enforcement and Surveying. Our efforts to expand the market into the legal sector have really paid off”.
WinScribe is marketed throughout Europe from WinScribe UK based in London, and through a network of sales partners in Australasia, South Africa, and the America’s which are handled from New Zealand. “WinScribe is available in English, German and French, so WinScribe UK is better suited to supporting the product with their multi-lingual support and training staff” says Dale Matravers. “Due to time-zone differences, we will shortly be opening a sales and support office in Chicago to better service our American sales partners” he added.
